We have officially hit the 2 month mark. There have been a lot of changes over the past couple weeks. Morning sickness, I mean all day sickness, has hit me with full force. Some days are worse than others. Hopefully this will pass as I near the end of my first trimester.
My tummy seems to be expanding every day. If someone didn't know I was pregnant they would probably think I had a few too many sweets over the holidays (which I did). My clothes are becoming more and more uncomfortable. I have two pairs of jeans that I can wear without being miserable.
Trey and I still haven't told our friends the good news. We want to wait a few more weeks just to be on the safe side. I can't believe I've kept this a secret for this long. Every time I talk to our friends I just want to burst. I've learned a little bit of self control. Our next visit to the doctor is January 8th. We are both nervous and excited. Hopefully everything is progressing properly.
Here's a look at what's going on this week:
Pregnancy in week 8...
How your baby's growing:New this week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. You may be daydreaming about your baby as one sex or the other, but the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal whether you're having a boy or a girl. Either way, your baby — about the size of a kidney bean — is constantly moving and shifting, though you still can't feel it.

Back Tracking... 6 Weeks and 3 days
We had our first ultra sound this week. Trey and I were a bit surprised to find out that I am not 8 weeks pregnant. As of today I'm 6 weeks and 3 days pregnant. After they measured the baby they were able to determine exactly how far along we are. The exciting news is that our new due date is August 11, 2009 OUR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY! What are the odds of that?
We were able to hear the baby's heart beat. It was a steady 114 BPM. I still can't get that little beat out of my head. It was the most amazing noise I have ever heard. Trey and I are still blown away by this entire experience. Hearing that little heart beat has taken us out of shock and into reality. The baby is measuring .38cm which is right on target. My doctor said everything looks wonderful. She even said I can continue working out. Now I really don't have an excuse.
Our next appointment is January 8th. I'll be close to my 9th week by that point. Trey and I were resting a little easier knowing I was almost past my first trimester (the scary period). We've gone backwards a bit and have another 5 and 1/2 more weeks before we can breath easy. Hopefully the time will fly by.
Here's a little info on what's going on this week with the baby...
How your baby's growing: This week's major developments: The nose, mouth, and ears that you'll spend so much time kissing in eight months are beginning to take shape. If you could see into your uterus, you'd find an oversize head and dark spots where your baby's eyes and nostrils are starting to form. His emerging ears are marked by small depressions on the sides of the head, and his arms and legs by protruding buds. His heart is beating about 100 to 160 times a minute — almost twice as fast as yours — and blood is beginning to course through his body. His intestines are developing, and the bud of tissue that will give rise to his lungs has appeared. His pituitary gland is forming, as are the rest of his brain, muscles, and bones. Right now, your baby is a quarter of an inch long, about the size of a lentil bean.

2 Months and Counting...
This week marks 2 months. I can't believe the little one will be here in 7 months. If the next 7 months go by as slow as last week has I'm in trouble. I wake up every morning and for a split second forget that I'm preggers. Once I remember it's like hearing the good news all over again. I'm sure once I stop sleeping through the night because of my enlarging abdomen I won't forget as easily!
Here's whats going on in week 8:

The Beginning
Trey and I have finally decided to start a Mack family blog. We figured this is the best way to keep all family and friends up to date on what's going on in our world.
At this point we have only told family about our exciting news. I'm officially 7 weeks pregnant. Trey and I will become parents this summer! We were just as surprised to get the news as you guys were. We feel blessed, thrilled and anxious all at the same time. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we still have about 5 more weeks before we get past the first trimester.
Our Pregnancy: 7 Weeks
How your baby's growing:The big news this week: Hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs — although they look more like paddles at this point than the tiny, pudgy extremities you're daydreaming about holding and tickling. Technically, your baby is still considered an embryo and has something of a small tail, which is an extension of her tailbone. The tail will disappear within a few weeks, but that's the only thing getting smaller. Your baby has doubled in size since last week and now measures half an inch long, about the size of a blueberry.
If you could see inside your womb, you'd spot eyelid folds partially covering her peepers, which already have some color, as well as the tip of her nose and tiny veins beneath parchment-thin skin. Both hemispheres of your baby's brain are growing, and her liver is churning out red blood cells until her bone marrow forms and takes over this role. She also has an appendix and a pancreas, which will eventually produce the hormone insulin to aid in digestion. A loop in your baby's growing intestines is bulging into her umbilical cord, which now has distinct blood vessels to carry oxygen and nutrients to and from her tiny body
So... That's the news for this week. I am feeling great at this point. I haven't had any morning sickness (thank the good Lord). I have had a couple headaches and mild stomach cramping (which is completely normal because of my expanding uterus). My appetite has definitely picked up. Although this isn't much different than before. I've always had a rather large appetite! Around 4 o'clock in the afternoon I am ready for bed. The exhaustion has kicked in overdrive.
I had all my blood work done last week and everything came back great. My progesterone level was 23 (anything below 12 is abnormal). My HCG levels are doubling every 48 hours as they should. Our first ultra sound will be December 17th. Hopefully I'll have more good news at that point. Again, keep us in your prayers for the next few weeks and months for that matter.
